Log as root Copy the relevant patches distribution file gpatches_<os>.tar.gz to a folder that belongs to the root user (e.g.: /tmp), move to this folder. Execute command: gzip -dv gpatches_<os>.tar.gz Execute command: tar xvf gpatches_<os>.tar The folder galaxy_patches is created Execute command: cd galaxy_patches Execute command: ./gpatch_install During the execution, confirm the patch installation and backup On completion, reboot your station
Note: The checksum file provided in this page is for reference in case you want to verify that your download copy is not corrupted. The checksum file is the console output running the SUN cksum utility on the patch distribution.
Which patches will be installed?
The Galaxy software checks the patches each time it is launched. If some patches need to be installed, a warning message is displayed, and a log file is created:
For Optimizer : galaxy/optimizer/common/patch_for_galaxy.log
For Audit : galaxy/audit/common/patch_for_galaxy.log
Note: Future releases will create the log file in the $HOME folder instead.

If the patch failed to install, you have to upgrade your current Solaris station installation to include the following package:
SUNWlibC: SPARCompilers Bundled libC
This package is installed when you perform a station Developer installation, but not for end-user installations. To fix this issue then be able to complete the software patch installation, simply perform an upgrade procedure from your Solaris CD-ROM (have your administrator involved if needed).
Patch 106040 failed to install
(Solaris 2.6 only)
If the patch 106040 failed to install, you have to upgrade your current Solaris station installation to include the following packages:
SUNWxim: X Window System Input Method Server Package SUNWxi18n: X Window System I18N Common Package
These packages are installed when you perform a station Developer installation, but not for end-user installations. To fix this issue then be able to complete the software patch installation, simply perform an upgrade procedure from your Solaris CD-ROM (have your administrator involved if needed).
